Fantasy Football: 5 bold predictions for Week 8

Bold Prediction #5: Bengals defense won’t be a top play
The New York Jets lost Zach Wilson for a few weeks with an PCL injury, and now they are starting a quarterback by the name of Mike White. White likely won’t do much better than Wilson this week. This should be a huge day for the Cincinnati Bengals defense, right?
Well, maybe not. The New York Jets are going to be utterly boring on offense this week. Expect a lot of Michael Carter and not a lot of anything else. Mike White spent two years on the Jets’ practice squad after he graduated from Western Kentucky after transferring from the University of South Florida. He threw for 63 touchdown passes for Western Kentucky over two seasons.
The Jets aren’t going to try very hard to make him work. White threw for two interceptions last week, but he did get a touchdown pass, too. The Jets were playing for pride against a New England Patriots team that was clearly trying to embarrass them. This week, the Jets will do everything in their power to survive. Maybe they are just going through the motions this week until Joe Flacco can take over under center.
This isn’t to say don’t start the Bengals this week, but maybe there’s no reason to spend extra money in DFS. Also, don’t go out of your way to add them to your roster. The Bengals are a fine play, but they won’t be the top defense in fantasy this week.
