Chicago Cubs catcher donned a Braves jersey for Game 3 of the World Series, supporting his brother Williams who plays for Atlanta.
Cubs fans have already had to endure the sight of multiple former stars in unfamiliar jerseys this year.
From Anthony Rizzo in a Yankees jersey and Kris Bryant as a Giant to Javy Báez wearing Mets colors, it’s been a season for change.
But Willson Contreras remains a Cubs player, so seeing him in a Braves jersey was definitely a scary and unwelcome sight on Friday night.

Halloween may be in a couple of nights, but that’s no costume. Contreras was in Atlanta for Game 3 of the World Series cheering on his brother, William, who plays for the Braves.

Some Cubs fans used this as an opportunity to make a point about Contreras’ future with the team.

Contreras is in an interesting position with Chicago. He’d be a perfect player to build around, but he’s on the verge of free agency and the Cubs need to sign him to an extension if they want to keep him.
According to Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic, Contreras could be traded if a deal on an extension doesn’t get done.
That’s how close Contreras is to ending up in another jersey in the near future, whether it’s Braves colors or something else.
