7. David Johnson, Houston Texans

The Houston Texans just traded Mark Ingram back to the New Orleans Saints this week, showing they are finding the right fits at the running back position. Johnson only has 27 rushing attempts this year while Ingram had 92. Now, Johnson is clearly the number one in Houston. He’s always had receptions, he’s second on the team behind Brandin Cooks, but now he should be able to make an impact on the ground, too.

They are facing the Los Angeles Rams this week. It should not be a close matchup, but the Rams have allowed 25 points per game to opposing running backs. If Johnson is the guy, the Texans will prove it this week. He needs around 20 touches per game to be effective for fantasy. He won’t get many touches in the red zone because the Texans can’t get there, but hopefully, he can get enough between receptions and yards to be valuable.

6. Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have been in the tank the past four weeks. They went from actual contenders to serious pretenders in a matter of a month. As we head into the second half of the NFL season, the Broncos need to figure out what their offense is before the season starts to slip away. It’s becoming more and more clear that Javonte Williams is the guy who will help the offense run. The Broncos just need to commit to giving him the ball.

Williams was only given four rushing attempts against the Browns. He did add six catches and a receiving touchdown to salvage his day, but the Broncos coaching staff isn’t giving him the proper amount of offensive production. Melvin Gordon is still a fine player, but Williams deserves more of a piece of the pie.
