6. Michigan State Spartans

How about the Spartans? Kenneth Walker rushed for nearly 200 yards and accounted for five touchdowns on the ground as Michigan State defeated rival Michigan 37-33 in East Lansing. With the win, the Spartans have generated some serious momentum as they chase down a Big Ten east crown and potentially something bigger.

Mel Tucker has done a sensational job this season and has the Spartans in the race. The first test was knocking off Michigan. The next will likely be the final two regular season games at the end of November, when Michigan State visits Ohio State and hosts Penn State.

5. Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State finally faced a good defense and had a bit of trouble scoring the ball. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, they faced a team with not a good offense. Nonetheless, it’s a ranked win at home for the Buckeyes and the world got to witness a big guy touchdown.

This could be the most interesting team to watch in not just the college football rankings but also the College Football Playoff rankings. Where does the committee see the Buckeyes right now? Perhaps they find their way into the initial top four.
