2021 NFL power rankings, Week 9: Cardinals fall for first time
Head coach Matt Nagy (COVID-19) would not be available for Sunday’s clash with the 49ers as the Bears looked to rebound from consecutive losses. Rookie quarterback frustrated the San Francisco defense by running for 103 yards and one score.
He also threw for 185 yards and one touchdown. But he served up one interception, fumbled twice (none lost) and was sacked four times. Chicago has allowed a combined 95 points in their last three games.
The Birds made their way to the Motor City for the first time since 2016. And the Eagles had dropped their last three games to the Lions dating back to 2015. But that skid came to a screeching halt on Sunday as Nick Sirianni’s team scored points in every quarter and rushed for 236 yards.
Both Boston Scott and Jordan Howard each ran for a pair of touchdowns, Darius Slay returned a fumble 33 yards for a score and Philadelphia’s defense totaled six sacks.
The team’s losing streak stood at four straight as the Panthers headed to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. A year ago, Carolina grabbed a road win in this series and the team turned the trick again. Matt Rhule’s team rushed for 203 yards, 66 of those by quarterback Sam Darnold.
Rookie Chuba Hubbard ran 24 times for 82 yards and one score, Zane Gonzalez kicked four field goals and the Panthers’ defense picked off veteran Matt Ryan two times.
