3. Darnell Savage will lead the team in tackles

Green Bay’s secondary is going to be under immense pressure from Mahomes and his receiving corps early and often in this game. The play of the Packers’ safeties will be particularly important to keep the Chiefs from scoring via big plays.

Savage will see at least as much action as any of his teammates. He isn’t the best pass coverage guy in the NFL, but he’s a serious hitter who can intimidate receivers with his willingness to put his body on the line.

Green Bay’s defensive coaching staff will place a big premium on keeping the ball in front of them on Sunday. Savage will be the team’s last line of defense on a relatively high percentage of snaps. Fortunately for the Packers, he’s a sure tackler.

Savage will end the game with 10+ tackles which is far too many for Green Bay’s liking. They don’t want a safety to lead them in stops, but the Chiefs’ offense puts that sort of pressure onto their opponents. Savage will do just enough to earn his team a narrow victory in this shootout.
