5 breakout fantasy football stars to pick up for Week 9
3. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 9 – Pittsburgh Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth
Former FCC commissioner Newton N. Minow once described television as a vast wasteland. Minow’s words apply nicely to the tight end position in fantasy football since finding more than a handful of locked-in weekly starters at the position is a difficult task.
Any time a tight end makes a bit of noise it is worth mentioning them, especially during the bye season. This week’s tight end to watch is Pittsburgh’s Pat Freiermuth, who converted four-of-seven targets into 44 yards and a touchdown.
This is the second consecutive week that Ben Roethlisberger has looked Freiermuth’s way seven times, with the previous effort resulting in seven catches for 58 yards. Given how hard it is to find production out of the tight end spot, those numbers will play.
Freiermuth is rostered in just 10 percent of Yahoo leagues and has a strong matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 9. Roethlisberger has shown that he needs a reliable tight end at this stage of his career and Freiermuth can be a good TE1 option for teams in need of help at the position.
