2. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 9 – New York Jets QB Mike White

Halloween 2021 will officially be known as the Mike White game for Jets’ fans. White, pressed into service with starter Zach Wilson sidelined with a knee injury, delivered a performance for the ages against the stout Cincinnati Bengals’ defense.

The Jets dialed up 45 passes for White and he completed 37 of them for 405 yards with three touchdowns, catching a two-point conversion for good measure. White, who completed his first 11 passes of the game, became the first Jets’ quarterback since Vinny Testaverde in 2000 to pass for over 400 yards in a game.

The performance the Jets got from White was extremely impressive since New York didn’t have top receiver Corey Davis in this game and their offense had struggled mightily over the first seven weeks of the season. White’s strong showing has certainly earned him another start in Week 9 against the Colts, making him a strong plug-and-play option against the suspect Indianapolis secondary.

Rostered in only one percent of Yahoo leagues, White’s performance should make him an intriguing option for Brady owners in need of a QB1 next week. Another strong showing from White could also lead to some intrigue around the Jets’ quarterback situation since New York could take its time bringing Wilson back from his injury, making this a speculative play as well.
