3. Big 12

The Big 12 didn’t have a very good week on the margins, either. Iowa State lost to West Virginia, a team that was a massive disappointment all season. TCU lost again and the 20-year run of Gary Patterson is over very surprisingly. However, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Baylor all came up winners on Saturday. They stick in the rankings, and Oklahoma is expected to get into the College Football Playoff rankings when they come out on Tuesday night. Only Kansas and TCU have losing records in the conference, showing increased parity and an ability to win the nonconference games across the board.

2. Big Ten

Both the Big Ten and SEC saw huge losses from ranked teams, but the losses in the Big Ten felt bigger. Iowa was hanging onto its elite status by a thread, and Wisconsin came along with a pair of scissors. They cut the cord on the dreams of Hawkeyes fans, and they have to accept the dream of a lesser bowl game coming at the end of the season. Ohio State really held the game against Penn State in its hands for most of the night. The big miss here is from Michigan. They fell short again. How many big games will this team lose with Jim Harbaugh as head coach? He is 2-13 against teams in the top 10.

1. SEC

The SEC reigns supreme after Georgia just takes its rival Florida to the woodshed this week. The Gators never had a chance, and the Bulldogs established that no week would be overlooked. Georgia hasn’t won a National Championship since 1980. They are on a mission to end that. Alabama was off this week, but they’re expected to get into the College Football Playoff Rankings on Tuesday night. Kentucky and Ole Miss lost very important games which will knock them further down the rankings. Auburn has won some big games this season and might play spoiler across the SEC with Texas A&M and Alabama still on the schedule.
