1. Dan Mullen – Florida

The Florida Gators have absolutely got to get rid of Dan Mullen as soon as possible. There are no excuses for the Gators to be losing as badly as they are against the South Carolina Gamecocks, but here they are trailing by 20 points at halftime.

Absolutely inexcusable for Mullen to be failing this badly.

It no longer matters that Mullen was able to build a winner out of a mess with the Mississippi State Bulldogs. What matters is that Mullen has been completely incapable of elevating Florida into being even remotely a consistent SEC championship contender, let alone the national championship contender that Gator fans expect this program to be.

The Gators are looking at potentially falling to 4-5 on the season and have a very real shot of falling short of the 8-4 mark that would have endeared him to fans if he were still at Mississippi State. Even if Florida were to get to eight wins this year, that still isn’t enough to appease Gator fans.

Things are bad in Gainesville and there’s no reason for them to be this rough. If the Gators coaching staff were recruiting up to the standards that a championship-caliber program should, maybe things would be different.

Mullen left a really stable gig in Starkville to try and win some national championships. Now, four years later, he might be looking at another job search. Only this time he’ll have to find a way to make his resume look a little bit better after underachieving with the Gators.
