In his 60th professional boxing bout, Canelo Alvarez continues to make history and expand his legacy, becoming the first undisputed champion in the history of boxing’s super middleweight division.
Alvarez scored an 11th-round TKO win over Caleb Plant to win Plant’s IBF 168-pound title, while also retaining the WBA (Super), WBO and WBC championships. This was the first loss of Plant’s pro boxing career.
Alvarez now joins the likes of Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, Josh Taylor, Katie Taylor and Claressa Shields as four-belt undisputed world champions in any boxing division.

Alvarez’s first venture at super middleweight saw him win the WBA (Regular) super middleweight title with a third-round knockout of Rocky Fielding in New York’s Madison Square Garden in December 2018.
He then claimed the WBA (Super) and WBC titles with a unanimous decision over Callum Smith in December 2020 and the WBO title with an eighth-round finish of Billy Joe Saunders in May.
Plant won the IBF title in January 2019 with a unanimous decision over Jose Uzcategui. He had since retained the title against Mike Lee, Vincent Feigenbutz and Caleb Truax.
