Flex: WR Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys-$6,000

Gage had seven catches for 64 yards (on eight targets) against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9. Around a weird targetless game in Week 8 when he played heavy snaps, he has over 60 yards and more than 13 full PPR points in the other two of the last three contests.

The Falcons are down their top wide receiver indefinitely, as Calvin Ridley has stepped away to address his mental health. The team placed him on the reserve/NFI (non-football injury) list last week, and he’ll miss at least two more games.

In Week 10 Atlanta will face the Dallas Cowboys, who are a bottom-10 fantasy defense against wide receivers so far this season. The Falcons’ defense will surely struggle to contain Dallas’ offense, thus forcing Matt Ryan to throw the ball plenty. Gage is the most bankable target for Ryan this side of Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson, so he fills my flex spot at a nice value point this week.

Team Defense: Tennessee Titans vs. New Orleans Saints-$4,100

In Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams, the Titans allowed 16 points while sacking Matthew Stafford five times and intercepting him twice (including a pick-six). They have multiple takeaways and/or multiple sacks five straight games (both four times), with at least 12 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) four times in that span.

The New Orleans Saints have not been generous to opposing defenses, with zero interceptions thrown (and only two giveaways) over their last three games. Over their last four games, they’ve scored at least 25 points three times. But they are down to Trevor Siemian and Taysom Hill at quarterback, and wide receiver Michael Thomas is not going to suit up this season. Running back Alvin Kamara emerged from last week’s game banged up enough that the team worked out a few running backs.

Tennessee’s defense looked pretty good over a tough stretch of schedule. The Saints’ offense is not on the level of those recent opponents, and playing at home on Sunday is another point in the Titans’ corner.
