Cubs: 3 former players who could return to Chicago

Cubs: Is Kris Bryant reunion in the cards?
Kris Bryant is also represented by Boras and is looking for his first (and potentially only) big contract of his career. When Bryant came up through the Cubs system, he was someone fans thought would always be around. But then it became pretty clear as time went on the plan was always to trade him because of his value, and maybe try to re-sign him as a free agent.
Bryant was traded to San Francisco within minutes of the trade deadline in July, and it was a roller coaster inside and out for him. He always said he wanted to stay in Chicago, but also said he understood the business and the circumstances. In September, he was the one traded player to make a return to Wrigley Field as a visitor, and boy was it emotional.
While it is unlikely the plan of the new regime includes a long-term contract with big dollars attached to it, it’s worth noting that the market for Bryant might not be as daunting as thought to be. The Giants have not shown interest in re-signing him, saying they were not impressed with his defense. But being able to start in any of the seven fielding positions and batting .500 in the postseason is something that sounds pretty good to me. Cubs fans would certainly love a reunion and reconciliation.
