1. Free agency market has other answers at shortstop for the Yankees

Looking at the totality of everything involving a potential marriage between Carlos Correa and the New York Yankees, it already seems like the relationship between the team/fan base and the player could be fraught given the history with Judge and the comments about Jeter that imply disrespect for the organization’s history.

So if that is the case, then it would be simple to say that New York should simply look elsewhere in the free agency market. That is easier said than done in some years but it just so happens that the 2021 market, particularly at shortstop, is completely loaded and the Yanks would have no issue finding a player who could help the ball club every bit as much as Correa.

Whether it’s Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Trevor Story or even Javier Baez, there are high-quality players who can step into the hole at shortstop and deliver big results for New York in the way that they would want Correa to.

That, ultimately, is the trump card when it comes to Correa and the Yankees. If there weren’t any better options for New York, then they could try to push past the other stuff. But with other quality shortstop targets available, then dealing with the baggage that comes with Correa starts to not seem worth it at all.
