9. AT&T Stadium (Dallas Cowboys)

I don’t care if you think this should be higher, I’m biased against domes so deal with it. By no means is that to say that this is a bad stadium- it certainly is not. I wouldn’t have it in the top ten if it was. AT&T Stadium just doesn’t have the historical lure of other stadiums in front of it.

Regardless of its lack of history, this is a spectacle to behold. Jerry Jones said goodbye to Texas Stadium, broke out his big Arkansas checkbook and built a big, goofy playpen for his football team.

The turf upgrade in this stadium compared to Texas Stadium is the biggest win of the entire thing. The old bright astroturf didn’t do it for me, but the darker, yet still vibrant, turf of AT&T Stadium hits all the right buttons. The Cowboys end zones are also great. The dual helmets on either side of the team name in the old western font are symmetrically pleasing.

Plus, if the field and exterior palace design weren’t enough, Jerry put a trillion foot TV screen inside of it. Seriously, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jerry’s sole purpose of building the stadium was just to show off and flex on the other 31 owners about how big his TV is. It’s a modern spectacle of architecture and the end result of a billionaire having fun with his money simply because he can.
