4. Pau Gasol — 2014-16 seasons

Pau Gasol is one of the more underrated players of this era. He was a legend for two franchises. He helped Kobe Bryant win two titles in the second era of his career. He was clearly someone who could be a great number one on some franchises but an even better number two on championship rosters. By the time he got to the Bulls, the expectations have changed dramatically.

When Gasol was introduced as a member of the Bulls after signing there, he said he was looking for a challenge. He had to get through LeBron James and the Cavaliers to get to the NBA Finals, so that was absolutely a challenge for him.

Gasol was still great during his time with the Bulls, but it was mostly forgettable because of where they went in the playoffs. He was there for two seasons, and he averaged a double-double both years. However, he won a total of one playoff series in the two years. Gasol had been used to playing into late May and June with the Lakers, but things were much different in Chicago.

It was clearly a good move for the Bulls to sign Gasol. They were a young team trying to get a championship mentality under head coach Tom Thibodeau, but it didn’t work out that way for Gasol. He ended up signing with the San Antonio Spurs at the end of his stint with the Bulls. He was bought out there, and joined the Milwaukee Bucks. It was a strange end to a great career who might get lost in the lore of the NBA.
