2022 NFL Mock Draft: Is Kenny Pickett the future in Carolina?
By Brad Weiss
Picks No. 26 through 28
After one down season after Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay in free agency, the New England Patriots are back at it and are currently one of the hottest teams in the NFL. The winners of five straight games, Bill Belichick has this team rolling, and they just may end up winning the AFC East when all is said and done.
Picking at No. 26 overall, the Patriots look to continue to bolster the defense, selecting Alabama linebacker Christian Harris. Going to the Patriots would be a best-case scenario for Harris, and we all know the relationship between Belichick and Nick Saban, making this a perfect selection.
The Dallas Cowboys looked terrible in their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and will now take on another AFC West foe, the Las Vegas Raiders at home on Thanksgiving Day. Still, the Cowboys have one of the best records in football and are a talented team on both sides of the ball, so a legitimate playoff run should be in the cards.
Here, at pick No. 27, Dallas continues to add talent to their secondary, bringing in Alabama safety Jordan Battle to team with former teammate, Trevon Diggs, at cornerback. The Cowboys play in a week division, have a ton of playmakers, and should be able to run away with the East, setting up a possible run through the playoffs.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked outstanding on Monday night, beating the New York Giants pretty soundly at home. The Bucs and Tom Brady are looking to get back to the Super Bowl after an improbable run in his first season with the team, and they appear to have the roster to do just that.
Picking late in round one, the Bucs should look to continue to improve along the offensive line, and they do so by picking Darian Kinnard from Kentucky. Kinnard has the size to come in and start at left tackle right out of the gate, and while that may not be necessary, it is a good problem to have.
