14. Oklahoma Sooners

Despite the loss a couple of weeks ago to Baylor, Oklahoma still had a shot at both the College Football Playoff and the Big 12 Championship Game. The first step to making that a reality was to win Bedlam against rival Oklahoma State, a series that they’ve dominated in recent years. And early on, they seemed on track to do that as they took a lead into halftime.

But the hot-and-cold Sooners showed up again and the offense couldn’t find their way in the final 30 minutes. Paired with some untimely miscues on their part — on offense and special teams — Oklahoma choked the game away and lost. Now, they’re out of the conference championship game with no playoff hopes left to cling to either.

13. Utah Utes

Much like many other teams in the AP Top 25, Utah came into rivalry week with an opportunity that was all in their hands and all that was necessary was taking care of business in a game in which that should be easy. If they could beat Colorado, then they would make the Pac-12 Championship Game and have another date with Oregon — assuming the Ducks got a win as well.

It definitely wasn’t the same type of impressive showing that we saw from the Utes in the win over the Ducks but they got the job done on Friday night with a 28-13 win over the Buffaloes. That victory was all they needed and now they are looking to put the final nail in Oregon’s coffin by beating their conference foes for the second straight time.
