NFL power rankings, Week 13: Patriots roll, Steelers stifled
The NFC East leaders look to rebound from a rough outing at Kansas City in which the team was limited to three field goals. Moving the ball and totaling points wasn’t difficult on Thanksgiving afternoon at home against the Raiders.
And Mike McCarthy’s club rolled up 437 total yards and 33 points in a penalty-filled clash. But the Dallas’ defense allowed 509 total yards and too many big pass plays as the Cowboys lost for the third time in four games.
The AFC South frontrunners were stunned at home last week by the Texans. And now Mike Vrabel’s club headed north to Foxborough looking to cool off the Patriots. The Titans kept Bill Belichick’s team in check in the first half and trailed by just three points after two quarters.
But Vrabel’s team was blanked 20-0 the rest of the way. Ryan Tannehill threw for 93 yards and a score (1 interception) but the Titans finished the afternoon with four turnovers.
Are the reigning AFC champions truly back on track? The Chiefs have lost twice as many regular-season games as a year ago and got off to a 3-4 start in 2021.
A disappointing defense has been better as of late after a rough start. Andy Reid’s team has won four straight games and limited each opponent to 17 points or less. But Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense remains a little out of sync. And the Chiefs’ 22 turnovers can’t be ignored.
