10 RB sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 13
By Nick Villano
3. Jamaal Williams, Detroit Williams
There hasn’t been much to be excited about in Detroit this season. The one thing that was going well was the progression of D’Andre Swift. The Lions running back has 555 yards behind a putrid offensive line and with every team filling the box because nobody is afraid of what Jared Goff brings to the table.
However, it looks like Swift’s shoulder is going to keep him out of this week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. That leaves Jamaal Williams on the waiver wire for anyone to pick up (unless someone picked him up already). Is he worth starting? It’s hard to tell with how the Lions treated the offense so far this season, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
2. Myles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins
This seems like deja vu. We’ve trusted Myles Gaskin before, but he’s one of the most popular sleeper players in the league. The Miami Dolphins have been streaking, and out of nowhere, they are 5-7 with a pretty easy schedule in front of them. Gaskin is coming off a game where he scored two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers.
This week, the Dolphins are taking on the New York Giants. Even in their win last week, they gave up a good game against Boston Scott. They allow the third-most points to running backs this season. Gaskin is going to have a good game, and the Dolphins are going to make it five wins in a row.
1. Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos
Javonte Williams had himself a week. He had 54 yards rushing and 57 yards receiving while scoring a touchdown on the ground. It was his best game through the air that he’s had all season. He also scored his third receiving touchdown, putting him over 20 points in PPR leagues for the first time this season.
Most people expected Williams to take over the running back position from Melvin Gordon eventually this season, but it’s taken some patience to wait this long. Gordon is still having a pretty good season, but Williams is clearly the best option in the backfield. He takes on the Kansas City Chiefs, which has been a Jekyll and Hyde team all season. Andy Reed has been famously good after bye weeks, but the Chiefs aren’t a normal Andy Reed team. Can the Broncos take advantage? We think so.
