Georgia football fans are happy about making the College Football Playoff, even as a No. 3 seed.

Well, the Georgia football team’s shot at a perfect season bit the dust on Saturday night in Atlanta.

While getting their teeth kicked in by the perpetual nemesis that is the Alabama Crimson Tide is getting old, Georgia did enough during the regular season to merit inclusion in the College Football Playoff for the second time in school history. Georgia will have a month to get over losing to Alabama badly in Atlanta, 41-24. For now, they’ve got a national semifinal game to get ready for.

No. 3 Georgia will take on the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines in the Capital One Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve for the Dawgs’ national semifinal game.

Georgia football fans react to Dawgs making College Football Playoff

There are mixed reviews to Georgia playing Michigan in the Orange Bowl, but the consensus is a very compelling national semifinal game between two college football blue-bloods.

It is beyond obvious that the College Football Playoff Selection Committee did not want to force an immediate rematch between Alabama and Georgia because that would not be compelling television. This is a television show after all.

While Michigan housed Iowa in the Big Ten Championship, the Wolverines better get ready for an extremely angry Georgia team that just got embarrassed on a national stage.

Believe it or not, Georgia still controls its own destiny. The Dawgs need to beat Big Ten Champion Michigan down in Miami Gardens to potentially force a rematch with Alabama for the national title. Though Cincinnati certainly earned inclusion into the College Football Playoff, the gap between the Bearcats and the Crimson Tide is incredibly vast. Georgia to Michigan is way closer.

Georgia football fans should remain hopeful, as the Dawgs are lucky enough to still be alive here.
