Every NFL team’s most devastating loss of all time
Chicago Bears: 2010 NFC Championship vs Green Bay Packers
The Bears were the better team in 2010. They won the NFC North and were the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs. Jay Cutler had just had a solid performance against Seattle in the Divisional Round, and the defense for Chicago was one of the best in the NFL that season.
The Packers were in control for the vast majority of the game. They led 14-0 at halftime in Soldier Field, and the Bears couldn’t get anything going offensively. Olin Kreutz suffered an injury, but stayed in the game and the offensive line largely struggled against the pass rush of the Packers. Jay Cutler infamously left the game in the third quarter with a knee injury, and did not return, leaving Caleb Hanie as the quarterback.
The Bears made it a one score game with a Chester Taylor run in the fourth quarter. They got the ball back, and had the chance to drive and tie the game before Hanie threw a pick six to B.J. Raji that sealed the win for the Packers.
Cutler got a ton of backlash for not going back into the game, and the Bears failed to capitalize on one of their best regular seasons in two decades.
