8. Will Anderson Jr., EDGE, Alabama

Many Alabama fans were quite angry over the fact that Will Anderson Jr. wasn’t invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony this year as a finalist. While the Crimson Tide faithful definitely had a point, the good news for them and Anderson is that the dominant pass-rushing force will have the opportunity to let the voters right their mistake next season.

Anderson was a monster coming off the edge this season, leading college football with 15.5 sacks and also racking up an unreal 29.0 tackles for loss in the 2021 campaign. He’s not going to lose that ability as he heads into his junior season in Tuscaloosa, which should put him in the mix for this award yet again. Hopefully, if he repeats or betters his efforts, he’ll get his due next time around.

7. Quinn Ewers, QB, TBD

The journey for Quinn Ewers has already been highly interesting. He was projected to be arguably the top recruit for the 2022 class but reclassified late and enrolled at Ohio State as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class. Unfortunately, the success of C.J. Stroud ultimately led to Ewers not seeing the field outside of garbage time (and even that was scarce) and, thus, he’s looking for a new home.

All told, it appears that Ewers is going to end up at either the Texas Longhorns or the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Whichever program he ends up with, though, the ultra-talented young quarterback is going to make a huge impact and has the goods to become an immediate star — especially in what have traditionally been two high-powered offense.

As such, he has to be considered an early Heisman Trophy candidate.
