NFL power rankings, Week 15: Chiefs roll, Browns escape
Joe Judge’s club has played better football as of late. But the team remained all alone in the NFC East basement. And the Giants faced a very tall order in traveling to Los Angeles to face the explosive Chargers.
New York’s defense gave up 423 total yards and Big Lue trailed 37-7 in the fourth quarter. Mike Glennon ran seven yards for a touchdowns and also threw for two scores. But he was sacked twice and committed both of the Giants’ turnovers.
The Panthers were in position to sweep the rival Falcons for the first time since 2013. Cam Newton was the starter on Sunday but head coach Matt Rhule played a bit of musical chairs with his quarterbacks.
He benched his veteran (who served up a pick six), put in P.J. Walker (who threw an interception late in the first half) and would go back to Newton after intermission. The latter also lost a fumble. Carolina is now 2-8 in its last 10 games after a 3-0 start.
The Raiders looked to bounce back from a tough home loss to Washington. But Rich Bisaccia’s squad was humbled in a big way by the rival Chiefs for the second time this season. Josh Jacobs fumbled on the team’s first play from scrimmage and it was returned for a touchdown.
]Las Vegas was down 35-0 in the second quarter and finished with five turnovers. In two losses to Kansas City this year, the Silver and Black was outscored by a startling 89-23 count.
Things started out well for Matt Nagy’s club on Sunday night at Lambeau Field as the Bears looked to snap a five-game losing streak to the Packers. Chicago owned a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter. And Nagy’s squad would own a 27-21 lead at halftime.
Then things took a turn for the worst as the team could not stop Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay attack from controlling the ball. Rookie quarterback Justin Fields turned over the ball three times.
