2022 NFL Mock Draft: Top edge rushers kick off first round, go 1-2

Picks No. 31 and 32

31. player. 47. . Cornerback. New England Patriots. Trent McDuffie

The New England Patriots are once again one of the best teams in football, and if the season ended tomorrow, they would hold the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC. The Patriots’ one-year drought from the playoffs is going to be over, and based on the talent they have on both sides of the ball, they could be in for a long run come playoff time.

If the Patriots are picking this late in round one, they need to add talent to the defensive backfield, and Trent McDuffie is someone I could see going in the first round. He has outstanding hands for a cornerback, and is tremendous in coverage, making him an interesting prospect to keep an eye on next offseason.

Green Bay Packers. David Bell. 32. player. 49. . Wide Receiver

One of the biggest questions next offseason will involve the Green Bay Packers, and whether or not they can get Aaron Rodgers to sign a long-term extension. Despite his advanced age, Rodgers is still playing at a very high level, and the Packers have to be the favorite to win the NFC at this point.

With the final selection in the first round, Green Bay selects a wide receiver, something they will likely hope sways Rodgers into staying. David Bell is a special talent and is sitting out the bowl game, so expect him to rise in the pre-draft rankings as more scouts get a look at his talent.
