2. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 16 – Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laquon Treadwell

Sometimes a change of scenery can unlock the ability of talented players who struggled with their previous teams. This appears to be happening on a small scale in Jacksonville with Laquon Treadwell, who has emerged as the Jaguars’ top receiver in the past few weeks.

Treadwell is best known as a first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2016, where he never got comfortable in the offense and was let go after his rookie contract expired. After spending 2020 with Atlanta, Treadwell landed on Jacksonville’s practice squad this year and was elevated to the active roster on Nov. 6, where he has quickly earned the trust of rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

The Jaguars have given Treadwell a ton of attention over the past four weeks with Lawrence targeting him at least five times in each contest. Treadwell has delivered pretty consistent production as a result, registering four catches apiece in Weeks 12-14 and six receptions in Week 16, although the yardage totals have mostly been in the high-50s at this point.

Those numbers will play in a PPR league, making Treadwell a flex play in Week 16 against the New York Jets’ suspect secondary, which has routinely been burned by opposing receivers in recent weeks. Treadwell is rostered in just two percent of Yahoo leagues and could pay huge dividends if he finds paydirt at MetLife Stadium next week.
