49. Jeff Capel (1993-1997)

Jeff Capel got to Duke just a year separated from back-to-back National Championships for the Blue Devils, and Duke was hungry for more. In his first season with Duke, Capel averaged 26.4 minutes per game and 8.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game, as he helped the Blue Devils make the National Championship game which they would lose to Arkansas.

After the 1993-94 season, which marked the seventh time Duke had made the Final Four in nine seasons, they would fail to make it back in Capel’s time with the Blue Devils, in fact, the following season, the 1994-95 season, Duke failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1983.

However, Capel put together an impressive resume during his time with the Blue Devils, averaging 12.4 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.9 steals over the course of his four years in Durham. In addition to that, he was also named to the All-ACC Third Team during the 1995-96 season.
