Las Vegas Raiders: Ken Stabler
It’s a shame that The Snake didn’t get to see the day that he was finally inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was one of the most exciting players of his era and the story of the NFL cannot be told without him- it’s a damn crime.
In an era of gunslingers, Stabler was one of the sharpest shooters. He was infamous for his late nights and studying the game plan by the light of the jukebox before going out and torching defenses with his cannon left arm. Stabler led the NFL in completion percentage twice.
He was completing 66 percent of his passes in an era where it was difficult to complete 55 percent of passes. He was the oil that made the Raiders offense run, and the key to the success of those iconic silver and black teams.
Stabler was a four-time Pro Bowler throughout his career, as well as a one-time All-Pro. He was named NFL MVP in 1974 and helped lead the Raiders to a Super Bowl victory over the Minnesota Vikings. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016, one year after his death. He should have had the pleasure of giving his enshrinement speech.
