De’Vondre Campbell has been fantastic, but somebody else will pay him more

As with Tonyan, linebacker De’Vondre Campbell will have plenty of suitors once he hits free agency. While he is not going to get a similar bump in pay as his tight end teammate will, Campbell should have a robust market this spring, no doubt. Though he has been a great fit in Joe Barry’s defense, and a productive one, somebody will prioritize paying Campbell more this offseason.

One team that would make a lot of sense for Campbell would be the Dallas Cowboys. His former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn is coordinating the defense of America’s Team marvelously. Campbell was an excellent player in Atlanta prior to leaving Flowery Branch at the end of his rookie contract, so a reunion with his former head coach in Dallas may be in line for this linebacker.

Not only that, but Campbell offers many of the traits necessary to survive as a linebacker in this league. Campbell is a tackling machine with great ball skills dropping back into coverage who can occasionally rush the passer. He may be in his late 20s, but Campbell will always have a place in this league as long as he continues to have his health. Green Bay must pay a premium to keep him.

Because Campbell is not a homegrown player, it makes it all the more likely he will leave Green Bay for an opportunity to play on another contending team that is willing to pay him more.
