L.J. Collier

L.J. Collier wouldn’t have made this list after the 2020 season, as the 2019 first-round pick was still working to prove himself. Last season, he recorded 3 sacks, 7 quarterback hits, and 4 tackles for loss — nothing spectacular, but Collier offered something to the Seahawks’ dilapidated defense.

This year, there’s nothing.

It remains unclear exactly why, but Collier was a healthy scratch for seven out of the first nine games of the season. When Collier has played, he’s taken only about a third of snaps per game, and understandably so: he’s hardly registered anything when he’s on the field.

Collier’s stats read as ones and zeros throughout the season: an assisted tackle in Week 10, a quarterback hit in Weeks 12 and 13, a solo tackle in Weeks 14 and 15. Collier hasn’t recorded a multiple of anything this season: everything he’s done has been once per game (unless you combine solo and assisted tackles in Week 5, which amounts to a grand total of 2).

The Seahawks are reluctant to play him, while rumors suggest that they were shopping him around the trade deadline when there were no takers. The Seahawks may not have any capital to rebuild with, but they need someone who can offer quarterback pressures and give something for Bobby Wagner and Quandre Diggs to work with.
