2022 NFL Mock Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars overtake Detroit for No. 1 overall pick
By Brad Weiss
Picks No. 11 through 14
Much like their NFC East counterpart, the Philadelphia Eagles will have two consecutive picks in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Their first selection, here at No. 11 thanks to the Miami Dolphins should be used to improve their defensive line, adding George Karlaftis from Purdue.
The Eagles have played much better as of late, and have actually gotten back to .500 on the season, this after a solid win against Washington in Week 15. Karlaftis would be an excellent get here at No. 11, bolstering one of the key weak spots on their defense.
The No. 12 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles, who selected with back-to-back picks here in the first round. After adding an edge rusher with their first pick at No. 11, they continue to add to the defense here, this time fixing an issue in the defensive backfield.
There are some excellent cornerbacks in this draft class, but outside of Derek Stingley Jr., there is none that ranks higher than Andrew Booth Jr. He would give the Eagles the depth they lack on the outside at the position group, as he and Karlaftis revamp this defense in a big way.
The Denver Broncos are in big trouble heading into Week 16, as starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a devastating injury in their Week 15 loss to Cincinnati. With Bridgewater likely out for an extended period, the team will have to turn to Drew Lock, who is about as bad a starting quarterback as you will get in this league.
Picking at No. 13 overall, and likely higher when all is said and done, the Broncos add a player who can really help them in the pass rush. After trading away Von Miller during the season, David Ojabo from Michigan joins the fold, becoming an excellent complement to Bradley Chubb in the pass rush.
The New Orleans Saints have been through a lot this season, and they are likely going to finish towards the bottom of the NFC South. Head coach Sean Payton is out once again due to COVID, and the quarterback position is an absolute mess with Taysom Hill at the helm.
In 2022, they likely will get Jameis Winston back, and he showed that he can do a nice job navigating Payton’s offense before his injury. To help him, the Saints add a talented wideout in Jameson Williams, who may be the most complete wide receiver in this draft class.
