10 RB sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 16
By Nick Villano
3. Tevin Coleman – New York Jets
The New York Jets offense is still in a bad way. Zach Wilson is playing better, but he’s still bad. Michael Carter was pretty bad last week against the Miami Dolphins. He only averaged 2.2 yards per carry, and the Jets only gave him eight total carries. It was his return from injury, but he still needed to do more. Tevin Coleman was much better, but the Jets need to see what they have in Carter, who looked really good earlier in the season.
Then, Carter landed on the COVID-19 list. Welp, there goes that plan. That puts Tevin Coleman in the starter’s role after he was pretty proficient for the team last week. The Jacksonville Jaguars are not going to do a good job of stopping anyone from doing anything. Not even the Jets. So, whoever the Jets decide should be the starter at running back deserves a shot in your fantasy lineup.
2. Miles Sanders – Philadelphia Eagles
All season long, the Philadelphia Eagles running game has been a confusing mess. One week, they are committed to making Boston Scott a monster. The next week, Jordan Howard is coming back from the dead. There was even that one week where Kenneth Gainwell was the guy. Five players on the Eagles have more than 200 yards rushing, and it’s caused a headache for fantasy owners. This is especially true for Miles Sanders owners, but now that he’s healthy, he’s clearly their best option.
Sanders has been a destructor of fantasy opponents lately. He had his first two 100-yard performances over the last two weeks. Against the Washington Football Team, he had 131 yards. They are facing a New York Giants team that really has no business playing this week with no Daniel Jones and the worst quarterback controversy in football. Sanders should have good field position all day.
1. Justin Jackson – Los Angeles Chargers
Austin Ekeler was a late add to the COVID-19 protocols list, and the Los Angeles Chargers need to scramble to replace him. Justin Jackson is a good backup, and with the move coming so late, he will likely just take over for Ekeler’s role one for one. The Chargers are taking on the Houston Texans who have been awful against the run as of late.
The Chargers are just trying to play it safe this week while taking on the terrible Texans. Jackson should be getting a ton of carries, and he could win a matchup on his own after being picked up off of waivers this week. It’s a real opportunity for everyone involved, including fantasy team owners.
