Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones is actively rooting for the Cincinnati Bearcats as they take on Alabama in the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State football fans wish they were in the College Football Playoff themselves but some still have some rooting interest in the semifinal between Cincinnati and Alabama.

Former Buckeyes quarterback Cardale Jones made his allegiance known on Twitter as the game began.

He’s all in on the Bearcats:

Cardale Jones is rooting for Cincinnati over Alabama in the CFP

It makes sense for Jones in particular to root for Cincinnati over the Tide. He started against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and led the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. He and the team went on to beat Oregon for the 2014 national title.

It just so happens Luke Fickell, the head coach of the Bearcats, was on staff with Ohio State for that run. Fickell went on to land the head coaching position at Cincinnati in 2017. He never directly coached Jones, but the two were with the Buckeyes at the same time.

Plus, it’s an Ohio team vs. one from Alabama. A Cleveland-born guy like Jones was only going to cheer one way.
