4. USC Trojans

Going from one obvious potential landing spot for Caleb Williams to the next, we’re next looking at the USC Trojans because, frankly, that’s the landing spot that has been speculated upon the most when it came to conversation about whether or not he would end up leaving the Sooners or not.

And why not? Though it was the antithesis of a dream season for Oklahoma this past year, Lincoln Riley’s offense looked much better once Williams was put into the starting quarterback job for the offense, taking over for Spencer Rattler. So why wouldn’t the possibility of rejoining Riley as a member of the Trojans — a school that recruited him before Riley was ever a thought there — for the remainder of his college football career?

The biggest complication with this is the fact that Jaxson Dart emerged as a potentially viable long-term quarterback for USC late in the season and, though he’s not in the prototype of the players Riley has succeeded with at quarterback, it would be an odd choice for a player the same age as Williams who has played well to get pushed aside.

In the transfer portal era of college football, though, if Riley has more belief that Williams can lead the Trojans to high-end success, then there’s no reason to think he won’t try to make it happen (likely sending Dart into the portal himself in the process).
