Cedrick Wilson needs to be a reliable No. 3 receiver in the Cowboys offense

Now, the most obvious replacement or player who needs to step up in Gallup’s absence is wide receiver Cedrick Wilson. On the Dallas depth chart, he’s the proverbial next man up who will slot into the WR3 role behind CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper.

In a limited role this season, Wilson has proven to be a useful player for the Cowboys offense and certainly showed out late against the Cardinals after Gallup went out with his injury, finishing the day with six catches for 35 yards and a touchdown (he also might be in the running for the second-best passer on the team, for what it’s worth).

Playing a more prominent role in the offense, though, Wilson needs to show up and, much like Schultz, be a reliable target that can either take advantage of the attention being paid to Lamb and Cooper or take attention off of the top two wide receivers.

Dak Prescott must be the superstar quarterback he’s paid to be in Dallas

While it’s obvious that the pass-catchers on the roster need to step up with Michael Gallup out for Week 18 and the playoffs, it can’t be overlooked that quarterback Dak Prescott needs to rise to the occasion in a moment like this.

Prescott’s stats overall certainly look good but there have been far too many instances this season when the Cowboys signal-caller has left meat on the bone in this prolific offense. When it’s time for the postseason and must-win games, that can no longer be the case.

Jerry Jones and the organization finally gave Dak Prescott the money he deserved this past offseason, but now is the time to prove that he’s worth every penny. There are few doubts that’s the case but it’s times like these when the quarterback has to step up and deliver while there are some hardships for him to endure.
