NFL power rankings, Week 18: How far did Chiefs, Cowboys fall after stunning losses?
NFL Power Rankings: Week 18
It was a reunion of sorts as the Jets hosted former Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady, who has had his way with the Green and White throughout his career. Robert Saleh’s team played one of their better games of the season and actually owned a 24-10 lead late in the third quarter.
New York ran for 150 yards and wide receiver Braxton Berrios ran for one score and caught a TD pass. But the Jets’ defense couldn’t stop the Buccaneers when it counted most.
For the second consecutive Sunday, Pete Carroll’s club would play host to an NFC North club. And the Seahawks were hoping to fare better vs. the Lions than they had against the Vikings, Packers and Seahawks.
It would be a resounding YES as the club amassed 497 total yards – including 265 yards rushing (170 by Rashaad Penny). Russell Wilson threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns – three of those scores courtesy of wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.
After dropping 11 of their first 13 games, the Texans went to San Francisco winners of their last two outings. And David Culley’s team owned a 7-0 second-quarter lead after rookie quarterback Davis Mills connected with Brandin Cooks for a score.
But the Niners put the final 23 points on the board thanks mainly to a ground attack that exploited the Houston defense for 175 yards. Mills was sacked three times and also served up an interception.
In the midst of their first losing season under head coach Matt Nagy, the Bears would take out their frustrations on the visiting Giants. Chicago forced two early turnovers and took a 14-0 first-quarter lead.
Veteran Andy Dalton got the start at quarterback and threw for 173 yards and one score (1 interception). David Montgomery ran 22 times for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Bears collected four takeaways and sacked Mike Glennon four times.
