Ryan Pace, GM

If the Bears want to do a rebuild the proper way, then they must part ways with general manager Ryan Pace alongside Nagy.

Doing a rebuild halfway is not ideal because if Chicago were to keep Pace and move on from him in the near future, the organization will have to find a replacement who will want to keep the head coach and personnel in place. That limits the amount of ideal candidates for the vacancy in question.

Pace has a bit of notoriety in the Windy City for the moves he made throughout his tenure. Perhaps the biggest one that caught him the most flak was trading up from the No. 3 slot in the 2017 NFL Draft to the No. 2 slot for a large package of draft capital. With quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson on the board, Nagy selected Trubisky. That turned out to be a monumental miss for the Bears, as they moved on from Trubisky after four years.

With reports that Nagy will be gone after Week 18, a Bears insider reported earlier this week that Pace is probably going to remain with the team in some capacity.

We will not get official confirmation on Pace’s status until Week 18 wraps up. But as mentioned earlier, if the Bears want to do a rebuild the right way, then they must move on from the head coach and general manager.
