Next 3 moves Broncos must make after firing Vic Fangio
By John Buhler
3. Draft a franchise quarterback or orchestrate a trade for Aaron Rodgers
Once the Broncos front office identifies and hires its next head coach and then figures out who to keep between Bridgewater or Lock during free agency, Denver needs to do one of two things after that: Either draft a franchise quarterback with their first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft or give up the farm to see if they can pry Aaron Rodgers away from the Green Bay Packers franchise.
If the Broncos were to draft a guy, they should look at someone along the lines of Pitt’s Kenny Pickett, Ole Miss’ Matt Corral or North Carolina’s Sam Howell. All three college signal-callers can do different things, but none project as a superstar under center. However, the right offensive-minded head coach could put these promising, but flawed prospects into positions to succeed.
Should Denver not want to draft another quarterback because of the fear Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch and Drew Lock have already caused them, then Paton and company need to move all the chips to the table to rip Rodgers away from Green Bay. This year’s first-round pick, next year’s and maybe the one after that. It does not matter. Go get your next Peyton Manning!
If the Broncos make smart decisions with these three moves, they can make the playoffs in 2022.
