Byron Buxton – Outfielder

Very quietly, the Atlanta Braves need an outfielder. Eddie Rosario, Jorge Soler, and Joc Pederson are all free agents still. Ronald Acuña needs a few more months to rehab from a major injury at the end of the season. Ozuna remains a question mark. That leaves them with Guillermo Heredia and Adam Duvall. Also, Cristian Pache would get a bigger role until Acuña comes back. That’s not exactly an elite outfield.

The Braves are looking at a pretty weak outfield to start the season. They might have to look at the trade options. There aren’t a ton here, either, but one name that has crept up lately is Byron Buxton.

Buxton was supposed to be the future star for the Minnesota Twins, but he’s had trouble staying healthy. The Twins thought Buxton would be gone, but he just signed a seven-year deal that complicates things. Will the Twins trade Buxton right after signing him to a massive, incentive-laden deal?

The Braves would need to send something significant to get Buxton away from the Twins. It’s a risk, since Buxton has been injured basically every year since 2018. He has star potential, and he is still 28 years old so he has plenty of room left to improve.

This would be an interesting move for the Braves, and it might be worth it for the Twins considering the yearly risk that goes into trusting Buxton to carry the outfield.

dark. Next. Braves could come to regret Freddie Freeman contract, but it’s worth it
