5. Tom Brady — Tampa Bay Buccaneers

These lists always have to have Tom Brady on them, right? The quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continues to find the motivation to make the Super Bowl every year. No matter who the team is around him, Brady continues to show he is ready to push for a title.

The Buccaneers are one of the most dramatic teams in the league this season. The Antonio Brown saga is the latest in a long line of strange controversies that had the Bucs in the headlines for the wrong reasons. That would usually hurt a team’s chance to make it to the Super Bowl, but not for Brady. He’s faced every possible controversy between his time with the Patriots and Bucs, and he’s basically ignored it or used it towards his motivations. Whether it’s Spygate, Deflategate, players calling out the organization when they were cut, former teammates coaching his rivals, and the outside business Brady has with the TB12 method. No matter what, Brady shakes it all off and continues to win. The same will happen after the Brown controversy.

Brady needs to be even better this year than he was last season. Fournette is coming off an injury and might not be 100% in the postseason. Chris Godwin is out for the season with a knee injury. Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski have both been banged up at different times this season. It’s on Tom Brady to throw the Bucs out of this situation.

The Buccaneers have had their issues this season, and Brady has thrown his share of interceptions. However, at 44 years old, he’s still one of the best in the game. He leads the league in passing yards this season. Breaking 5,000 yards at 44 years old, even with the 17th game, is incredibly impressive. One might think he could run out of gas in the playoffs, but we’ve seen it before. He hits another gear once the temperatures drop (although a much smaller drop in Tampa than it was in New England).
