3. Travis Kelce — Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs were one of the most frustrating teams in the league this season. Despite having the all-world talents of Patrick Mahomes all season, their offense sputtered for parts of the season. This was supposed to be an explosive group led by Tyreek Hill and finishing teams off with Travis Kelce at the tight end position. Kelce has been good, but he hasn’t been great this season. Maybe the Chiefs offense has been holding their bullets until the end. Kelce can turn into a superstar on the turn of a dime.

Travis Kelce is already a star, but he’s still missing that performance to make him a superstar. He’s getting closer to the end of his career, but he’s the type of player that has one more performance that knocks people back. This seems like a good time to make it happen. It’s been a weird season, and it seems primed for even a flawed Chiefs team to run through the playoffs.

The Chiefs are still living off the motivation that comes with losing a game as they did to the Cincinnati Bengals. They know they can’t take any week for granted in the playoffs. All of their best players are going to step up, and Kelce has the be the best player on offense every snap. He has to play so many different roles for Mahomes. He has to be the outlet man while also making plays by himself. He has to be a matchup nightmare ala prime Gronkowski.

Last season, Kelce averaged 120 yards per game and a touchdown in three postseason matchups. This season, he will need to play four games to win the Super Bowl. Could he have an all-world performance? It seems likely, especially since many teams have had trouble against the tight end in the AFC.
