2022 NFL Mock Draft: Draft order set for first 18 picks
Pick No. 11 through 14
Soon, the Washington Football Team will unveil their new team name, and hopefully, some better leadership comes with that. Team owner Dan Snyder is a joke at this point, but head coach Ron Rivera is one of the best in the business, and will likely get this franchise pointed in the right direction.
This season, we saw some great things out of quarterback Taylor Heinicke, but it remains to be seen whether or not he is the long-term solution in Washington. If he is not, look for the Washington Football Team to use this No. 11 pick on a quarterback, adding Malik Willis, who could have the highest ceiling of any quarterback in this class.
One team to keep an eye on this offseason is the Minnesota Vikings, who recently fired both their general manager and their head coach. Mike Zimmer’s time as the head coach in Minnesota had run its course, but we could see a complete overhaul if the team decides to move on from quarterback Kirk Cousins as well.
Likely, the Vikings will stick with Cousins, who had a solid year statistically, but hurt his team down the stretch when he was forced to miss games due to being an unvaccinated player. With pick No. 12, I like the Vikings to instead turn their sights to the defense, bolstering the pass rush with the exciting David Ojabo here.
The word out of Cleveland is that the Browns will not only be sticking with quarterback Baker Mayfield but that they expect him to have a huge season in 2022. That means the Browns are not in the market for a quarterback this offseason, which is a bit surprising considering how bad this offense was down the stretch with Mayfield at the helm.
With pick No. 13, the Browns could go several different ways, but this is a team that needs some help up front along the defensive line. DeMarvin Leal is a player who I believe will have an instant impact at the next level, as he is big enough to stuff the run but athletic enough to get into the backfield.
Had Lamar Jackson not gotten hurt down the stretch of the 2021 regular season, you have to think that the Baltimore Ravens would still be playing football this weekend. Instead, they were one of the final teams eliminated from the playoff picture in the AFC this past weekend, and will now set their sights on bolstering this roster in the offseason.
One area where they certainly need help is along the offensive line, and they would be wise to use their No. 14 overall pick there. Charles Cross is a big-bodied offensive tackle who could come in and start right away in Baltimore, giving them their best young tackle since Orlando Brown was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.
