2022 NFL Mock Draft: Draft order set for first 18 picks
Picks No. 26 through 28
On Saturday night, the Buffalo Bills welcome a familiar foe to town, as AFC East rival New England invades Highmark Stadium in what should be an excellent game. Josh Allen continues to improve as the team’s starting quarterback, and he had a monster year in 2021, throwing for over 4,400 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Stefon Diggs is one of the better wideouts in the AFC, but they need to get him some help, and they do so here at pick No. 26 with Arkansas star wide receiver Treylon Burks. Burks announced he will enter the draft this past week, and in Buffalo, he would be an excellent complement to Diggs in what is already a prolific passing attack.
Due to the fact they traded for Matthew Stafford this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams do not have a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Instead, that pick will go to the Detroit Lions, who despite strong play from Jared Goff to finish out the year, will look for a long-term answer at the quarterback spot with pick No. 27.
That selection could be UNC star Sam Howell, who could sit for a year behind Goff and learn the pro game before taking over in 2023. The Lions could go wide receiver here, as Goff did look good in the closing weeks of the season, but Howell may be too good a prospect to pass up.
The Dallas Cowboys roared into the playoffs by dominating the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 18, though to be fair, the Eagles did not start Jalen Hurts. Dak Prescott led his team on a 51-point barrage, tossing five touchdowns, and getting this offense rolling heading into the playoffs.
While Dallas has outstanding talent on the edges of their defensive line, they need help in the interior, and they get some here by selecting Jordan Davis from Georgia. Now, this is a player who could be gone well before the No. 28 pick, but he fills a major void on this Cowboys defense, and will not be passed up if he is still available.
