Would World Series champion Braves trade Charlie Morton?

Righty pitcher Charlie Morton is signed through the 2022 season with the Atlanta Braves. While the Braves have a team option for the 2023 season, they could forego this in search of some young talent.

Morton was 14-6 for the Braves in a 2021 season in which the team won the World Series. He threw 185.2 innings firing 216 strikeouts. Morton is entering his 14th year of service and has a career record of 107-95 with 1,625 innings pitched and 1,492 strikeouts.

Morton relies on a four-seam fastball, curveball, sinker, cutter, and changeup. He mostly uses his curveball which averages 80 mph with 52.5 inches of vertical drop and an active spin of 79%. Quite filthy!

Imagine Morton pairing up with the Cardinals’ Gold Glove defense and joining an already potent rotation with Wainwright and Jack Flaherty.
