2022 NFL Mock Draft: Playoffs continue to shape first round

Picks No. 11 through 14

Washington Commanders. Malik Willis. 11. player. 58. . Quarterback

When it comes to the Washington Football Team, there is a lot of work to do with this roster, including who is going to be their quarterback next season. Taylor Heinicke had his moments this year, and for a while, looked like a long-term solution at the position, but all of that good feeling changed down the stretch when he really struggled.

In fact, looking at next year’s first round, you could make an argument that the Washington Football Team should go with Malik Willis here at No. 11 overall. Willis is a prospect I believe will shoot up draft boards during the draft season, and head coach Ron Rivera will come to love not only his talent, but his football IQ as well.

player. 60. . Offensive Lineman. Minnesota Vikings. Tyler Linderbaum. 12

The Minnesota Vikings have made wholesale changes when it comes to leadership this offseason already, and are currently interviewing a ton of people for their open general manager, and head coaching jobs. It will be interesting to see what the new regime does with Kirk Cousins, as if they are not sold on him, they could be in the market for a quarterback here.

However, there is also some talent that they cannot pass up on, and one of those players is Iowa standout offensive lineman Tyler Linderbaum. This is a player who will be an elite center at the next level, and the Vikings were subpar in terms of their offensive line last season.

player. 53. . Wide Receiver. Cleveland Browns. Garrett Wilson. 13

It appears that Baker Mayfield is going to be the guy in Cleveland, at least for next season, which means they will pass on a quarterback here in the first half of the first round. Cleveland was one of the more disappointing teams in the NFL this season, but Mayfield was playing with a pretty significant injury, and that should not be overlooked.

With Mayfield entrenched at the quarterback spot, the Browns need to go out and get him more weapons, and they grab an in-state prospect in Garrett Wilson from Ohio State at No. 13 overall. Wilson does not have great size, but he loves to go up and get the ball and is not afraid to go over the middle, which should endear him to Browns fans.

26. . Offensive Tackle. Baltimore Ravens. Charles Cross. 14. player

Going into the season, many liked the Baltimore Ravens to be one of the last teams standing in the AFC, thanks to their talented quarterback, Lamar Jackson. Unfortunately, Jackson was bitten by the injury bug down the stretch, and Tyler Huntley just did not have enough experience to lead this team to the playoffs, losing in Week 18.

With Jackson back in 2022, the Ravens will once again be at the top of the AFC if he can stay healthy, though they need to improve their offensive line to do so. Last offseason, they traded away Orlando Browns Jr., and here, they get a franchise left tackle at pick No. 14 overall in Mississippi State mauler Charles Cross.
