2022 NFL Mock Draft: Playoffs continue to shape first round

Picks No. 23 through 25

Kaiir Elam. 23. player. 32. . Cornerback. Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals made it to the playoffs this season, but once in the playoffs, it became a nightmare. Quarterback Kyler Murray looked like he was playing scared, Kliff Kingsbury was outcoached, and now some feel the organization should move on from both.

While moving on from Murray is laughable at this point, the Cardinals do need help on both sides of the ball, especially in the secondary. Kaiir Elam from Florida is a cornerback who could be one of the top-4 selected in this class, and in Arizona, he would slide right into the starting lineup.

Defensive Tackle. Dallas Cowboys. Jordan Davis. 24. player. 123.

The Dallas Cowboys laid an egg in the playoffs, as the San Francisco 49ers and beleaguered quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went into Jerry’s World and came out with the victory. The playcalling at the end of the game was laughable, but this is a team that should be right back in the mix next season, though we could see a completely different coaching staff.

Picking this late in round one, the Cowboys need to bolster the interior of the defensive line, and luckily for them, Georgia’s Jordan Davis is still available in this mock draft. Davis is a big-bodied defensive tackle that would fit well within a Cowboys defensive line that can be downright dominant coming off the edge.

25. player. 56. . Cornerback. Cincinnati Bengals. Roger McCreary

The Cincinnati Bengals have actually done it, as they beat the Las Vegas Raiders at home this past Saturday to win their first playoff game in 31 years. Quarterback Joe Burrow proved that he has that big-game potential that he showed at LSU, and the Bengals should be in good hands as a franchise for the foreseeable future.

In April, they have to do something to help their secondary, and the cornerback position is one they need to address. They can get a Day 1 starter in this class at the position, as it is that deep, and Roger McCreery, like Burrow, has shown the ability to come up big in the biggest of spots.
