Nick Castellanos

Nick Castellanos declined an $18.4 qualifying offer from the Cincinnati Reds to become a free agent. A passionate player with skills at the plate, it will be interesting to see where Castellanos lands once the MLB lockout ends.

While his eight-season career has been a bit slow, he had a breakout season in 2021 that suggests the promise of more in the future. In 2021, Castellanos hit .309/.362/.576 with 34 home runs, 38 doubles, 41 walks and 100 RBI.

Castellanos’ 2021 numbers should be enough to earn a good payday. He would be a tremendous asset as a potential designated hitter. He played significant time at right field for the Reds and would be a good option there.

Due to previous numbers, Castellanos may not get a large contract but he should be rewarded for having an excellent 2021 season and potential for building on those numbers in the future.
