San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was the subject of scorn for his terrible performance against the Packers.

The 49ers became one of the biggest surprises of the second half of the NFL regular season as Jimmy Garoppolo led them to the playoffs.

He even won them a playoff game against the Cowboys, so hopes of him turning up against Green Bay were relatively high.

Then Saturday happened and Garoppolo reminded San Francisco and the rest of the NFL world why skepticism around his starting job has remained very high.

To put it kindly, Garoppolo was bad.

NFL Twitter was not so kind in their assessment of Garoppolo’s performance.

Going into the final minutes, Garoppolo was 9-of-17 for 105 yards and an interception. He took four sacks for 25 yards. And that stat line is generous to his overall performance. He looked out of sorts from the start of the night and was clearly unsettled by the Packers defense.

Incredibly, San Francisco remained in the game despite the quarterback. The 49ers defense and special teams units were immense, culminating in a punt block returned for a touchdown to tie the game at 10 late in the fourth quarter.
