It would serve Mitchell Trubisky to test free agency to see what he can land

Even though he is an NVP and a former Pro Bowl quarterback in his own right, Bills Mafia has to accept that Mitchell Trubisky was never going to be a long-term solution at backup quarterback for them. While he is an excellent backup who can run an offense similarly to what Allen can, albeit at a far less successful level, he has a better chance of following Daboll than he is sticking around.

While the Bills came up short at Arrowhead, as most teams tend to do these days, this devastating loss is not going to prevent Daboll from getting a head-coaching job. There are just too many of them available in this cycle and he has been on the coaching carousel far too long for it to not have happened yet. He will take his offensive scheme with him, and maybe even Trubisky.

Even if Trubisky does not follow Daboll to his new place of employment, it serves the former No. 2 overall pick out of North Carolina to test what he can get on the open market. The Chicago Bears fell apart after he left, so maybe he will get another look at being a bridge starter somewhere else? At the very least, should net more than the $2.5 million he earned during his one Bills year.

Trubisky will never live up to his draft status, but he can make a fortune while holding clipboards.
