Twitter reacts to Sean Payton leaving the New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are searching for a new coach after having Sean Payton for 16 seasons. Twitter had plenty to say about the news.
After 16 years in the arena, Sean Payton is stepping away.
Payton, 58, coached the New Orleans Saints from 2006-21 and enjoyed the most successful run in franchise history by a wide margin. The former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator went 152-89 with the Saints, winning seven NFC South titles and, of course, Super Bowl XLIV over Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.
The only true blemish was 2012, in which Payton was suspended for the entire year after being implicated for his role in BountyGate.
With Payton leaving, the Saints might be looking at a rebuild. They don’t appear to have the franchise quarterback on the roster whom they enjoyed for so long with Drew Brees. Th cap situation has also been a mess for years under general manager Mickey Loomis, pushing down the line to keep a window of contention open.
Now, with Payton out and a change to recharge offensively, New Orleans could be looking to tear down its team and start fresh.

The next question is whether Payton stays out of football for more than one year, or if he returns and has a plane waiting to take him to Dallas.
